Does my child need to have an identified disability for our family to begin working with you?

No, absolutely not! We are able to work with any family at any point in their parenting journey. Whether you suspect your child may have a disability, your child is already identified as a child with a disability, or you have a typically developing child struggling academically or with troubling behaviors, we are able to assist! Parenting any type of child can have its hurdles and challenges- you do not have to navigate this journey alone!
Why should I hire a special education advocate?

Advocates can help make sure that your child's best interests are being met. They can help explain federal and state laws to you, as well as break down testing results and recommend other assessments. Advocates can help you prepare for your child's special education meetings and can attend them with you. They can also observe your child in the school setting and provide an objective view of your child's educational program. Advocates can review your child's IEP and can help you organize the mounds of paperwork you have received. Being a parent of a child with special needs can be an emotional and difficult experience. An advocate can be an added source of support for you and your family.
What is unique about PROSPER's advocacy services?

While many special education advocates have solely legal backgrounds, PROSPER's advocates come with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of education. Their many years of experience working in the academic setting allow them the distinctive advantage of having an intimate and inside understanding of school systems and practices. As such, they are able to make recommendations related to best practices in the field of special education, observe your child in a school setting through the lens of an educator, and can work collaboratively with school staff members.
